Practical Session 2 Update – Bahrain

We appreciate how much the cancellation of our exams has affected learners and we’re working hard on solutions to ensure they can gain their qualifications at the earliest opportunity. However, on the basis of official and local advice we will be postponing the entry period for Session 2 Practical exams and we will provide an update about the exams scheduled for November - December as soon as we can.

We will provide updates about future exams sessions as soon as we can and our Representative will provide further guidance in due course. We are very sorry for the impact on teachers and candidates and thank you for your loyalty and support at this difficult time.

Music Theory exam update – session 3

On the basis of government advice, we are cancelling the Music Theory exams due to take place later in 2020. We are sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your ongoing loyalty and support.

Check out NYJO’s virtual academy

Suitable for all aspiring jazz musicians, this exclusive video series delivers comprehensive tutorials, tips and tricks based on a jazz classic.

This week's video is by NYJO's Assistant Music Director, Winston Rollins, breaking down the role of the trombone within the context of a jazz orchestra. For this tutorial, Winston uses the NYJO Minus One recording of Lady Be Good, which you can find in the Virtual Academy to practice too!

Their Listen & Learn section now includes brand-new backing tracks and charts specifically designed to accompany the Jazz Tunes You Should Know playlists (curated by NYJO’s lovely team of MD’s).

New tracks include:

  • Footprints
  • On Green Dolphin Street
  • How Insensitive
  • (NYJO London)

and

  • In a Mellow Tone (Vocal Class)
