ABRSM partners celebrating after national award win and Culture Recovery grant success

ABRSM partner, the London Music Fund is celebrating its 10th anniversary with national award success after it was named ‘
Outstanding Musical Initiative’.

The Fund’s success in the 2021 Music & Drama Education Awards comes as Arts Council England revealed it has awarded Culture Recovery support to three other ABRSM sponsored organisations.

The National Children’s Orchestra, National Youth Jazz Orchestra and National Youth Orchestra of GB are among 2,700 organisations which will share in £400 million worth of grants and loans designed to help the culture and heritage sector recover from the impact of Covid-19.

ABRSM Chief Executive Chris Cobb said: “We’re really proud of the contribution that we have made to each of the four organisations over the years and of the recognition through these various announcements of the incredible impact that each has, in different ways, on the opportunity for young people to learn music and progress as musicians today.

“We congratulate them all on their success and look forward to our continued partnership in the months and years to come.”

The London Music Fund was set up in 2011 to address gaps in music education provision for children and young people across our city, in particular those from low-income families.

Its vision is that every child who demonstrates significant musical ability, enthusiasm and commitment to learning an instrument is given the opportunity to develop their talent.

The nationally recognised Music and Drama Education Awards are given to organisations or projects across the country who have shown a demonstrable impact on large numbers of young musicians.
